Tantric Toys

There are many sacred objects that have been incorporated into the bedrooms and temples of Tantric spaces throughout the years. Some are very sexual and some are pretty esoteric. Back in the day of early tantric sex rituals there was much emphasis on the various objects to include in the sacred sex space.

Some of the items that were common among tantric spaces included statues or carvings of the God and Goddess, stone lingams and yonis, paintings of the Shiva and Shatki, Yantras or Mandallas, and other symbols that have their roots in the Hindu and Buddhist religions.

There are many more objects that were considered crucial to having perfect spiritual Tantric sex as well. Flowers, foods, symbols, perfumes, incense and more. You may find that having some erotic art, flowers, and pleasant aromas can enhance your sensual experience. I also have some pictures (or drawings) of chakras and some sacred stones around the bedroom as gentle reminders that the focus of sex can include moving energy upward and enhance my physical and spiritual well being as well.

Foods and the containers that held them have always played in important role in the Tantric sex experience. Having special foods in fancy containers adds to the sensual and spiritual ambience. The earliest group Tantric rituals included consumption of exotic foods, consumption of otherwise rare food, and the display of exotic food was as much part of an experience that puts your mind into another realm. Having fancy containers and exotic foods may add to your sensual experiences as well.

Having some books with sex positions that are for focusing the mind and body to exercise and heal specific regions, as well as positions that include visualizing the creation of wants and desires outside of the bedroom may also be useful to you and your mate. Certainly sex toys and lubes would be sacred objects to include as well.

Scents, Smells, Aromas

Smell is the sense of the root chakra, in which resides the sleeping Kundalini. You can burn incense or aromatic candles, spray your sheets with scents, or use flowers, and there are essential oils that can be applied to the body or burned in an essential oil burner. Some of the popular choices include frankincense for uplifting the spirit, cedarwood for spiritual and physical openness, and rose for increasing loving and romantic feelings.

Just make sure that you and your partner communicate about scents, for many people vanilla is a scent of relaxation, but one of my massage clients associates the flavor with her not-so-favorite grandmother, so we do not use that scent. I have a love you associates roses and the scent of rose with funeral homes, so I do not use roses or rose scented oils when we connect.

Many Tantric people have considered the Hibiscus flower (and other erotic flowers) to be an erotic symbol to enhance the atmosphere. Roses (especially pink, red or fire and ice) are popular as well, Anthiriums and stargazer lilies may also be good choices to include in your boudoir. Some flowers may have intense scents (stargazer lilies certainly do), and if you are not comfortable with such strong flavors, pictures of erotic flowers may be enjoyable instead.

Sex toys, lubes, and sex furniture.

There are many modern erotic implements that can be added to your lovemaking experience, whether you want to go for some sex toys that are more erotic art than penis replicas, there are glass dildos available today that have great function as well as beautiful design. Glass dildos are easy to clean and can be heated in hot water before use or cooled down for varying stimulation. For the function of bringing the woman to orgasm, we recommend the rabbit style vibrators.

There are other sex toys that may prove very useful for maintaining longer tantric sex sessions. Asian cultures have used cock rings for centuries, and they can be a great way to keep an erection harder, longer.

Tantric disciples have spent lots of time developing comfortable sex, whether it’s the additional of silk sheets or more pillows, or complex sex furniture like sex swings or other sex furniture, Tantra is all about incorporating comfort in sex so more sex can be enjoyed. I am sure if the liberator line of sex furniture was available in India a few thousand years ago, every Tantric temple and most bedrooms would be stocked with the various wedges and shapes that are made to give you easier access to various sex positions.
