Many tantric practitioners go to great lengths to ensure that the place of sex is sacred and lends itself to higher levels of sexuality, energy and spirit. There are certain colors, textures, objects and art that have been used to promote serene sexuality and higher spirituality. Some things are universal, such as sexual colors such as pink and red. Having decor that uses these colors can set the mind and mood into a relaxed sexual state. Other sacred objects may differ from culture to culture. Certainly there are people who will not understand some of the pictures that are used in the Hindu religion and therefor I do not recommend using some pictures that may take your mind away from the goal. If you find images and objects of the lingam and yoni to be sexual and sacred, by all means incorporate these into the decor of your boudoir or sacred sex space, if you do not associate pleasure with them then find objects that work for you.

Some friends use glass dildos and nude erotic photos to enhance their sex space, others prefer more abstract reminders such as pictures of lighthouses and flowers, find what works for you and your lover, and create your space around that.
